The people who pick up the phone.

A small studio. Three principals lead the practice. Four mid-level engineers carry the design and commissioning load. Three field technicians live in the trucks. A conservator and a shop manager keep the work honest. Most of us came out of either a museum or a university lab.

Hiring

We’re hiring one mid-level mechanical engineer in 2026.

If you have built a Class A or B system end-to-end, you have read Michalski once and felt comfortable disagreeing with him on at least one paragraph, and you would rather spend a Tuesday morning in a basement reading a 2017 ribbon than at a kickoff meeting — please write us. The role is described in detail at the hiring section below; closing date for the 2026 cohort is 2026-09-01.

We hire slowly. The 2025 search took eleven months and four candidates. We pay above market for the work we ask for, and we do not require that you live in Pittsburgh on day one.
